>>4 – 9 June - Cooperation between Yokohama's Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia and Frankfurt's Nippon Connection Japanese Film Festival

The Japanese film festival "Nippon Connection", which is being held for the 13th time in Frankfurt, picks up on the city partnership between Frankfurt and Yokohama, and will show films related to Yokohama on three special evenings. A new cooperation between Nippon Connection and Yokohama's Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia, which was arranged by the City of Yokohama Frankfurt Representative Office, made it possible to invite two directors and one professor of film studies to come to Frankfurt.
The first Yokohama-related film to be shown is "Utopia Sounds" by director Akihiro Mima, graduate of the Tokyo University of the Arts Graduate School for Film and New Media, which is located in Yokohama. This cooperation has been going on for a few years. The director will be present.
The second special evening is dedicated to short films, in cooperation with Yokohama's famous Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia. Six short films will be shown, among them award-winning ones. Director Ben Suzuki, whose award-winning film "A Day in the Life of Beijing Hutong" will be shown, will be present and give remarks.
Finally, a third special evening will focus on animation films. Professor Akiko Okamoto, head of the Animation section at the Graduate School for Film and New Media, will give a talk and introduce animated films.
The City of Yokohama Frankfurt Representative Office also supports the cultural programme of Nippon Connection. Ms. Maria Deutsch, in charge of City Promotion at the Representative Office, will hold a workshop about kimono and yukata.
